LUSH: Skincare Experiment

I've hit desperation level with my eczema in the past week. I've been trying everything to calm it down but nothing seems to be working. The winter weather is so unkind to my sensitive skin, no matter how much I moisturise I am still sore and flaky. My sister got me some LUSH dream cream for Christmas and it seemed to work quite well on my eczema so I decided to repurchase it and also try out a couple more of their products.
I ended up spending a lot more than I was hoping to (just under £30 on three small items!) But if they work for me I am sure they will be worth the price.
The Celestial cream appealed to me as I loved the name and it claimed to calm down the skin which is something I really need. I have tried the Celestial cream twice already and the results have been pretty good but it did seem to sting and irritate my face slightly leaving red blotchy patches.
My lips have also been very sore in this cold weather and I have been trying various lip balms without much success so I decided to try out LUSH's Honey Trap. The formula is strange at first, it feels like a waxy paste but it melts onto the lips and feels very luxurious. I had to stop myself from eating it. I felt that it was a bit over priced considering it comes in such a tiny tin. It will be interesting to see how well these products work for me and how long they last.

Illamasqua Birthday discount

Nail Varnish Duo in 'Throb' and 'Spartan'

Intense Lipgloss in 'Bella Donna'

I was super excited when I got an email the night before my Birthday with a 15% discount code. I couldn't resist buying a couple more things from their sale. I love the quality of their nail varnishes and these 2 look absolutely gorgeous and very festive when worn together. The lipgloss is very highly pigmented and intense like thee name suggests. A gorgeous warm pink colour like nothing I already own. My Illamasqua collection is steadily growing.

O.O.T.D. 24/01/14

Hoodie: Cheap Monday
Dress: ASOS
Leggings: Topshop
Boots: Dr Martens 'Serena'
This dress was a compulsive buy after seeing it posted on Haute Macabre the other day. I have never been a dress person but I am going to make an effort to convert.
My boyfriend and I ventured out into town this morning to drop off his interview payment at Leeds College of Music and then had a wander around the shops and I picked up a couple of things in Lush and spent far too much money. The joys of having sandpaper for skin!

Illamasqua Haul

Products L-R (roughly) Nail Varnish in Baptiste, Eye Pencil in S.O.P.H.I.E., Freak Perfume, Cream Foundation in CF 110, Liquid Light Foundation in LF133, Lipstick in Growl, Lipstick in Howl, Intense Lipgloss in Maiden.
Freak gift set included the perfume, eye pencil and nail varnish.
I had been wanting to try out some Illamasqua products for quite a while but never really knew where to begin so I kept putting it off not wanting to spend a lot of money on something I wouldn't use.
That was until the Christmasqua December promotion. The idea of getting a free lipstick with every order enticed me especially because it was named Howl which as you might know is an album by BRMC which I really love. I decided it was a great deal and went and ordered myself a lipgloss in Maiden.
When I received my first Illamasqua delivery I was so delighted at the quality of the lipstick that I went ahead and ordered another in Growl. Sadly this lipstick was out of stock on their website so I had to turn to eBay.
Over Christmas Illamasqua have been having a huge sale (which is still ongoing) and I made a couple more purchases which I am very happy with especially the Freak perfume which smells so heavenly. The nearest thing I can describe it to is that smell when you walk into a Lush store.
My birthday was a couple of days ago and Illamasqua kindly sent me a Birthday discount code which I couldn't resist using to purchase a couple more things from their sale.
I am very much looking forward to trying out more of their products especially their nail varnishes.
I am officially sold on Illamasqua, if you haven't tried out their products yet I strongly recommend you check out their sale right away.

Destruction makes the world burn brighter

Some shots I took of my boyfriend this morning on the roof terrace of Candle House in Leeds where we live.
